Katrina A. Schmidt ASHTABULA - Katrina A. �Katie Anne� Schmidt, 18, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017. Born September 11, 1999 in Ashtabula, the daughter of William and Kathleen (Anderson) Schmidt, she was active at Edgewood Sr. High School singing in the choir, playing on the softball team, and swimming for the swim team. She was one of few students who had completed four years of Spanish. She danced with Wildfire and Groundbreakers Dance Teams. In her younger years, she won two state championships in Tae Kwon Do. Katrina attended Messiah Lutheran Church and worked as a lifeguard at the Ashtabula YMCA. Katrina was a proud member of her home group, the Kingsville Freedom Group of AA. Her sobriety and determination at such a young age was an inspiration to many. Katrina had a special relationship with her grandmother, Lillian F. Schmidt and her �Moo Moo and Pops�, Juanita and Arnold Erickson. She had a smile that would light up a room and a great sense of humor. She loved many things in life, including Disney World, ham and bacon, Christmas, Judge Judy, scary movies, and looking for beach glass at Walnut Beach. Her survivors include her parents, Bill and Kathy Schmidt of Ashtabula; her brother, Karl (A.J. Voris) Schmidt of Columbus; her aunts, Julie (Russell) Townsend of Columbus and Katherine L. Schmidt Hollidaysburg, PA. A true animal lover, she will be missed by her beloved pets, Lincoln-Pup, Lilo-Buns, and Sparkle. Calling hours will be held from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, December 5 and from 10-11 AM Wednesday, December 6 at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula. A service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, December 6 at the funeral home. Rev. Dr. Michael Meranda, Pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church will officiate assisted by Rev. Betsy Schenk, Pastor of Amboy United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League, 5970 Green Road, Ashtabula, OH 44004. www.ducro.com
