Michael E. Williams, Sr. ASHTABULA- Michael Earl Williams, 76, “Big Mike” passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at his home surrounded in love by his family. The son of Harry L. and Mary J. (Clark) Williams, Mike was born on February 20, 1941 in McKean Township, PA. Mike and his family resided in Albion for thirty-three years prior to returning to Ashtabula five years ago. Mike retired from Pipefitters Union # 27 and #47 after many years of dedicated service. He was not content just being “retired” and was employed with Grand River Academy working in the maintenance department. He enjoyed being with the staff and students of the Academy. On April 14, 2001, Mike and Robin Johnson were married, although their marriage was short; the memories they created will last Robin a lifetime. Mike enjoyed camping and watching westerns. He enjoyed being a “Mr.-Fix-It” his skills as a mechanic had people coming to him for his advice and help. A wonderful carpenter, Mike remodeled his home and helped with those of his friends. He enjoyed building model cars and had them displayed throughout his home. Mike and his first wife Joann were foster parents for thirty years and welcomed many children into their home while they lived in Albion, Pennsylvania. Mike will be remembered as a positive role model in the lives of his children, grandchildren; step-children; great grandchildren and those many children who were privileged to be fostered in his home. He had a wonderful work ethic which he passed to his children and grandchildren Mike is survived by his wife, Robin Williams of Ashtabula; his children, Mary Williams Cross of Conneaut and Michael Williams,II of North Springfield, PA; step children, Stephanie Grippe ,Jennifer White, Jamie Dorrity and William Beesler all of Ashtabula; sixteen loving grandchildren, four precious great-grandchildren; his sister, Barbara Fullerton of Erie PA; many loving nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Joann Williams in 2001; his daughters, Donna Chillcott and Sherry Tisdale; and his parents. A Prayer Service will begin at 5:00PM on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula Ohio. Donna Caputto, Chaplin representing Hospice of the Western Reserve to officiate. Calling hours will be observed from 5:30PM until 8:00PM on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the Funeral Home.
