Obituary of Marjorie Wood

Please share a memory of Marjorie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Majorie Jean Wood went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 2, 2005. Marge was born in Geneva, Ohio on July 26, 1929, the daughter of Stanley and Mira (Kimes) Klinger. She graduated from Geneva High School in 1947 and married Richard L. Wood on November 20, 1953. Marge and Dick made their home in Geneva and Ashtabula, where they raised five sons, Richard (Skip), Lee, Scott, James and Michael. Marge was the proud grandmother of 14 grandchildren. Mostly recently Marge resided at The Villa at the Lake in Conneaut. In her early years, Marge enjoyed summertime camping with Dick and the boys and looked forward to annual visits with out-of-town brothers and sisters. Family gatherings were always a special time for her. She was adept in crochet and other crafts and provided her family and friends with many samples of her work over the years. Marge was a devout Christian whose commitment to God was borne out in the example she set for her family and in her service to her church and others in need. She was a member of Berean Bible Church until her illness prevented her from attending church regularly. Over the past few years Marge struggled with Alzheimer’s Disease, but never gave up her hope of living independently again. Although her memory may have faded, her spirit never dimmed. She continued to find joy in family, blue skies and drives past familiar places. Her faith in God and reliance on prayer quietly sustained her. Survivors include: five sons, Skip (Leigh) of Rosario, Argentina, Lee (Thea) of Albuquerque, NM, Scott (Jackie) Owossa, MI, James Wood of Ashtabula, Michael (Amy); fourteen grandchildren. Marge was preceded in death by her husband Dick, in 1987; her parents; brothers Wes, Bill and Leonard; sisters, Pearl, Lenore, Georgia and Joanne. Marge will be greatly missed by her five boys and their families, who are comforted by the knowledge that she has been reunited with her parents, brothers, sisters and the love of her life in their heavenly home. The family will receive friends on Sunday June 5, 2005 from 5-7 PM at Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula A service will held on Monday June 6, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home, with Marge’s eldest son, Pastor Richard Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Saybrook Cemetery. The family suggest contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers.
