Victor H. Anderson BOYNTON BEACH, FL -Victor Herbert ”Captain Vic” Anderson, 81, died Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Manor Care of Boynton Beach. He was born October 11, 1928 in Ashtabula, the son of John Victor and Mabel (Niemi) Anderson and had lived in Ashtabula most of his life, moving to Florida in 1999. He attended Harbor High School and was employed by the Lake Pilots Association and previously Wilson Marine Transit until his retirement. A member of Bethany Lutheran Church, he belonged to the International Shipmasters Association where he had served as Grand President, the BPO Elks, the Sons of Italy, and the EAC. Vic also enjoyed big band music and Frank Sinatra. A sports enthusiast, he loved Ohio State football and basketball and followed the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Cleveland Indians games faithfully. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann (Vornheder), whom he married on January 16, 2008; two daughters, Julie A. (Russell) Townsend of Columbus and Kathleen A. (Bill) Schmidt of Ashtabula; four grandchildren, Ronald Victor and Rebecca Eve Townsend, Karl and Katie Anne Schmidt; step-children, William (Julie) White of Indianapolis, IN and Brian (Sue) White of Coral Springs, FL; step-son-in-law, Bob Upton of Lantana, FL; step-grandchildren, Andrea and Billy White of Indianapolis, IN and Mark and Ashley Upton of Florida; and nieces and nephews, Lynda (Michael) Cononico, Janet (William) Scrocco, Lori Sisk, Joanne (Raul) Sisk-Avalos, and Robert (Patty) Sisk. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence (Candela), on February 23, 1995; his step-daughter, Beverly Upton in May of 2009; a sister, Carol Sisk in August of 1983; and his parents. Services will be 11 AM Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory. 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula. Rev. Larry Mackey, Pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM on Friday, November 13, 2009 and from 10 to 11 AM on Saturday, November 14 at the Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula. BPO Elks #208 will conduct their memorial service at 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
