Charles A. Ralston, Jr. ASHTABULA - Charles Almont Ralston, Jr, 72, beloved brother, husband, dad, and "Pap" died on Monday, October 10, 2016 at his home in the loving care of his family. The son of Charles A. and Ellen E (Browning) Ralston, he was born on September 13, 1944 in Steubenville, Ohio and moved to the Ashtabula area in 1981. Charlie was painter and was a member of the Painters Union retiring in 1987 after many years of dedicated service. On May 23, 2003 Charlie and Leslie Askew were united in marriage. It was the blending of two hearts, who created many wonderful memories in their short time together. Charlie was a man of many interests and talents. Never one to remain idle; Charlie enjoyed helping his sons with their roofing business. He mowed grass for his church; First Community Church of God, as well as, his many neighbors who needed his help. Charlie was the president of the "Ralston Pulling Team" who for many years competed in local tractor pull contests and were quite successful. He passed his love of tinkering with tractors on to his children and grandchildren. Hayrides were enjoyed by many children and adults with Charlie as their guide. Charlie will be remembered for his work ethic, his sense of humor and his love of family. Charlie is survived by his wife, Leslie Ralston of Ashtabula; sons, Charles (Christina) Ralston, Brian (Brenda Korb) Ralston, and Larry (Bonnie) Ralston all of Ashtabula; step-daughter, Nicole (Jason) Steele of Geneva; grandchildren, Wendy, C.J., Christopher, Larry II, Brittany, Cody, Sophia, Cameron, and Jayden; great grandchildren Jacob, Kyla, and Braiden; siblings, William (Renee`) Ralston, Larry (Rose) Ralston of Rayland, Ohio, Charlotte Arnett and Betty Ralston both of Rayland, Ohio; brother-in-law, Lloyd Mears of Tennessee ; many loving nieces and nephews and friends. Charlie was preceded in death by his first wife Janice Ralston on July 4, 2001; his parents, Charles and Ellen Ralston; his sisters, Virginia Mears, Ruth (Melvin "Pete") Stout brother-in-law, Gib Arnett. Calling hours will be observed from 4PM until 6PM on Friday, October 14, 2016 at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio. With an additional calling hour to be held at the church from 10AM until time of service at 11AM. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the First Community Church of God, 1910 South Ridge Road West, Ashtabula, Ohio. Rev. Hal Morgan, Pastor, to officiate. Burial will be in Ridgeview Cemetery, Ashtabula, Ohio. Memorial contributions in Charlie's name may be made to First Community Church of God, 1910 South Ridge Road West, Ashtabula, Ohio, 44004.
