James Pitt, Jr. SAYBROOK TWP. – James Pitt, Jr., 75, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 at Saybrook Landing. He was born December 3, 1940 in Charleston, WV, the son of James Sr. and Goldie Lee (Stevens) Pitt and had been an Ashtabula resident for the past 25 years after moving from Geauga County. James grew up the son of a Baptist Minister, and stayed a man of faith, attending Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene. A hard worker, he devoted many years to Skidmore Gear Co., Highland Heights as a laborer and machinist. He loved to be outdoors fishing and hunting squirrel and deer, just about as much as he loved his wife’s cooking. James was also a big animal lover, especially of cats and dogs, and would watch Animal Planet for hours. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 48 years, Royetta (Hudgins) Pitt, whom he married on April 21, 1968; son, Matthew Aaron (Teresa Hoyt) Pitt; grandchildren, Bethany, Tim, Lori, Tiffany, Jacob, and Matthew; and great-grandchild Jai’Dan; brothers, Damon Lee (Teri) and Gary Wayne (Virginia) Pitt; sister, Barbara Jean (Darrell) Keeney; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy Lee Pitt and Mark Alan Pitt, and his parents. A calling hour will be held from 3-4 PM with a service to follow at 4 PM on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 4524 Elm Avenue Ashtabula. Rev. Jeff Stoll, Pastor of Saybrook United Methodist Church, will officiate. Contributions may be made to the family. www.ducro.com
