Joseph Leroy Lutz, Jr. ASHTABULA –Joseph Leroy Lutz, Jr., 74, passed on Friday, June 16, 2017; surrounded by his loving family. Joe is the son of Joe and Dorothy (Petitt) Lutz and was born on February 27, 1943 in Des Moines, Iowa. Joe was a proud veteran of the United States Army, a true patriot; he believed in his country and was proud to have served. He was honorably discharged in 1966. Joe and Bernice Hersh were married on May 17, 1965 and together they celebrated fifty two years of marriage. Joe and Bernice and their family moved to the Ashtabula area in 1999 from California. Joe was a man of many talents, he was a wonderful cook and the family looked forward to his potato soup and chocolate fudge. Joe was an avid builder of model cars and radio controlled airplanes, he was very precise in his work and it showed. Joe would never turn down a good game of poker and liked to win. Joe will be remembered as a son, husband, brother, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. He worked hard to provide for his family. His strength and courage through his illness is a testament to the love of his family. Joe is survived by his beloved wife Bernice Lutz of Ashtabula, children, Travis Lutz, Andrea Guevara Bobbie (Teddy) Burt, and Brenda Acosta; fifteen grandchildren, Susan, Tommy, Tayla, Gilbert, Jamie, Melissa, Corey, Tia, Nicole, Amber, Todd, Nathan, Kimmy, Ashley, and Brittany; several great grandchildren; and loving nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his son, Trampis J. Lutz on July 21, 2013; siblings Terry and Diana; and his parents. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00PM on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio, 44004 Visitation will be held from 2:00PM until 4:00PM at the funeral home on Sunday, June 25, 2017.
