Harold L. Hill ASHTABULA- Harold Lee Hill, 82, surrounded by his loving family, went to be with his Lord and Savior after an extended bout with pneumonia, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center on January 17, 2018. Harold was born April 17, 1935 to James B. and Della M (Thomas) Hill l of Columbus, Ohio and was the youngest of six children, and was a graduate Columbus South High School Class of 1953. Harold joined the United States Navy after high school and graduated with Company 298 RTC Great Lakes, Great Lakes, Illinois December 17, 1954 as a Machinist Mate. He served his Country with pride and was awarded the "U.S.-R.O.C. Mutual Defense Commemorative Badge 1955-1979" in recognition and appreciation for his service to defend the Taiwan from Chinese Communist attacks in the Taiwan district. He was also awarded the joint-services medal, "823 Campaign" Badge of Honor, for his service in the 1958-1960 campaign. After serving his country and returning home, he worked for Kroger Bakery in Columbus, Ohio until full retirement after 40 years. On November 20, 1995 Harold and Regina Grafton were united in marriage. Although their time together was only twenty-two years they created memories that are treasures of the heart that will last a lifetime. Harold and Regina were members of the First Baptist Church of Kingsville. Harold loved spending time with family and friends and was an avid sports fan. He loved his hometown football team the Ohio State University Buckeyes, when he was not cheering for OSU; he played basketball, softball and enjoyed a good game of golf. Harold's favorite past time was to crack a joke or two to make everyone around him, whether it was family, friends, new people he would meet, or just someone standing close by feel welcomed, loved, to make them smile, laugh and just feel good. Harold will be remembered as a dedicated husband and father, and grandpa, great grandpa and great-great- grandpa. He is survived by the true love of his life, Regina Osborn Grafton Hill; his four daughters and two sons, Lisa A. Hill (Dwayne L.) Lawrence of Columbus, Oh., Vickie L Hill Van Fossen (Jeffrey C. Brixius) of Fairfax, VA., Pamela S. Hill (Kim) Banez of Galena, Oh., Karen D. Hill (Jim) Conger of Lewis Center, Oh., John (Mary) Grafton (Michelle Kirsch) of Geneva, Oh., and Ed (Krissy) Grafton of Madison, Ohio; seventeen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; ten nephews and six nieces ;and his special sidekick, his dog Noelle. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, January 22, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Kingsville, 6003 Lake Street, Kingsville, Ohio. Rev. David Hines, Pastor officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be held at 11:00AM Thursday,January 25, 2018 at the Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, OH 44273. Calling hours will be observed from 11:00AM until time of service at 1:00PM at the Kingsville Baptist Church. If desired, memorials in Harold's name may be made to his church.
