Obituary of Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Buckey-Johnson

ASHTABULA - Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Buckey-Johnson, 81, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Ashtabula County Medical Center with the care of Hospice of the Western Reserve.

She was born on May 10, 1936 in Ashtabula, Ohio, the daughter of Elias H. and Helen (Wickman) Sneary, and has been a lifelong area resident.

Betty was a graduate of Harbor High School, class of 1954, and attended Bowling Green State University.

Prior to her retirement, she was a secretary for the Ashtabula Fire Department for 26 years.

In her younger years, Betty enjoyed participating in Girl Scouts and Little League. She liked going to casinos, particularly Las Vegas, as well as crafting, completing jigsaw puzzles, playing bingo, watching old western movies, and being a member of the VFW in Geneva.

She is survived by her son, John F. (Vickie) Buckey of Ashtabula; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Johnson; children, Cheryl Buckey and David E. Buckey; brother, Robert Sneary; and her parents.

In keeping with Betty’s wishes, inurnment will be at Saybrook Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
