Amarlyss J. Babcock
ASHTABULA- Amarlyss Jane Babcock, 91, joined her husband, Billy on Wednesday, March 7, 2018. She was surrounded in love and prayers as she ended her earthly journey.
The daughter of Thomas and Minnie (Desko) Verdi, Amarlyss was born on February 6, 1927 in Ashtabula and had remained a lifelong resident.
Amarlyss and Billy Babcock were united in marriage on September 28, 1946 and enjoyed twenty seven years of love and memories.
Amarlyss was a hard worker and was employed with MFG and Carlisle's .Her greatest and most loved occupation was that of a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Amarlyss was a talented artist, her artwork was shared with her family and friends and they have become treasures of the heart. She collected "penny dolls" and other types of antique dolls and enjoyed watching old movies. Amarlyss had a soft spot in her heart for animals and enjoyed having many pets during her life.
Amarlyss will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her devotion to her family was a testament to her love, her strength and dignity was to be admired.
Amarlyss is survived by her children, Sandra(John) Camp of Aransas Pass, TX, William (Shirley) Babcock of Leroy, Ohio, Amarylss"Penny" (James) Driscoll of Ashtabula, Cynthia Hummer of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; grandchildren, Matthew, Rebecca, Ryan(Colleen) Babcock, Sunny (Derek) Kenyon, Timothy, Brian(Lora) Hummer, Amarlyss "Amy" (Craig) Sernik, Elizabeth (Michael)Driscoll-Dewitt; great- grandchildren, Juliette and Clint Kenyon, Greer and Finn Hummer; siblings, Wesley Verdi and Norma Erickson both of Ashtabula; many loving nieces and nephews.
Amarlyss was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy who passed away on November 6, 1947; siblings, Kay Freeborn, Dolores Hudok, Gloria Shupska, Frank Verdi, Marie Varkette, Florence Courson; and her parents.
Private Graveside Services will be held.
A Celebration of Amarlyss' life will be announced at a later date.
The family would like to thank the Staff at Saybrook Landing and Hospice of the Western Reserve for the loving care given to their mother, grandmother and great grandmother. You made her life so much richer with your presence.
