Jerry "JJ" G. Stitt, Jr.

ASHTABULA - Jerry "JJ" G. Stitt, Jr., 39, of Fort Avenue passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on Friday, March 9, 2018.

 He was born September 25, 1978, the son of Jerry and Patricia (Fuller) Stitt and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident. A 1996 graduate of Ashtabula High School, he participated in Boy Scouts, Saybrook Little League, and 4-H (raising rabbits) during his childhood.

 JJ worked at Chapman Foods and Auto Zone before beginning a career with Chromoflo, where he had been employed since 2003 and currently worked as a Production A Operator.

 A country music fan and avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed four-wheelers and spent many hours riding them with family and friends.  He loved being around his family and cooking, typically serving as the cook at all family picnics.  He loved to help his parents on the farm (most of the time) and always came to everyone's aid when they needed assistance with something.  JJ also served as a great mentor to the younger members of his family, always teaching them the correct and safe way to do fun stuff, and then doing it with them. His loss will be felt by countless people whose lives he touched.

 His survivors include his parents, Jerry and Pat Stitt of Ashtabula; his sister, Tricia Stitt of Jefferson; two nephews, Justin Stitt of Jefferson and Jacob Stitt of Shaw Air Force Base, Sumter, SC; one niece, Jacqueline Delewski of Jefferson; two great-nieces, Savannah Ludwick and Miya Stitt; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his faithful K-9 companion and best friend, Cooper.

 He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ruth Stitt and Richard and Violet Fuller.

 Calling hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8PM Friday, March 16, 2018 at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula.

 A service will be held 11 AM Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME.  Pastor Erin Valenti of Jefferson Church of the Nazarene will officiate.  Burial will be in Saybrook Cemetery.
