Obituary of Terry L Kaplan

Terry L. Kaplan ASHTABULA- Terry L. Kaplan, 68, died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, March 22, 2018. Terry is the son of David R. and Beatrice M. (McCoy) Kaplan; he was born on September 11, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan. Terry was a proud graduate of Harbor High School, where he played football. On February 16, 1974 Terry was united in marriage to his bride, Jolyn Mendralla and together they traveled life's highways. Creating many cherished memories along the way. Terry was employed with Norfolk and Southern Railroad Coal Docks for more than thirty five years; he worked as a as a heavy equipment operator; he enjoyed his job and those with whom he worked. They remained friends after his retirement. Terry was an proud member of Local #1913 International Longshoremen's Association Terry loved sports; he especially enjoyed the Indians and watching hockey; and like all other Ohio fans he still believed in the Browns. Terry and his wife, Jolyn traveled to Saulte Ste. Marie and Frankenmuth, Michigan; going to Michigan was going home for Terry. A talented cook; everything he cooked was delicious! Terry was his granddaughter, Gabryella's" best bud". He loved her as much as any Grandpa could. Playing Legos, riding in the golf cart and making pancakes, were all a part of being the "Best Papa" ever! Terry is survived by his loving wife, Jolyn Kaplan; son, Christopher and Lyndsey Kaplan and their daughter, Gabryella; mother, Beatrice M. Kaplan; siblings, Gary (Debra Blair) Kaplan, Edward (Pamela) Kaplan. David (Kathy) Kaplan, Beth Ann (Victor) Vierra; his God Son, Josh Kaplan; loving nieces and nephews. Terry was preceded in death by his brother, George Gregory Kaplan and his father, David R. Kaplan. Memorial services will be held at 7:00PM on Monday, March 26, 2018 at the Ducro funeral home, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio. Rev. Raymond Thomas of Our Lady of Peace Parish will preside. Calling hours will be from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Monday, March 26, 2018 at the funeral home.
