Obituary of Catherine Marie Nitzsky

ASHTABULA – Catherine Marie Nitzsky, 80, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2018. She was born on September 13, 1937 in Girard, OH, the daughter of Carl Sheldon and Catherine Marie (Holmes) Funk. She graduated from Girard High School and most recently worked for 12 years for the Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority, retiring in 2009. Catherine was a strong, unique person, with many interests and hobbies. She had a great sense of humor and had a quick wit. Catherine was a queen of gadgets and had a drawer for everything. Above all else she loved her family. Her survivors include four children, Jeffrey (Eileen) Nitzsky, Sr., of Girard, Randy Dandy of NV, Jill Applebee of Ashtabula, and Gary (Jamie) Nitzsky of NC; siblings, John (Gloria Milner) Funk, Sheldon (Diane) Funk, Helene Funk, and Pamela Zuppo; grandchildren, Jeffrey Nitzsky, Jr., Raymond Kralic, Jenna and Ryan Applebee, and Mike, Mark, Mitchell, Matthew Nitzsky and Stephen and Marshall Safrit; and great-grandchildren, Grayson Nitzsky and Lilly Nitzsky. She was preceded in death by her parents. A celebration of life will be held, Monday, April 9, 2018 from 4-7PM at the Elton Beard Cabin in Boardman Park, 375 Boardman-Poland Rd., Boardman, Ohio, 44512, where a service will be held at 4:30PM.
