Obituary of Audrey Darlene Lowery
Audrey D. Lowery
PIERPONT- Audrey Darlene Lowery, 91, was given her wings on Thursday, April 19, 2018; surrounded by her family whom she loved and cherished.
Audrey is the daughter of Lauran C and Anna M. (Rudisill) Stotler and was born on August 27, 1926 in Hagerstown, Maryland.
On December 20, 1942 Audrey and George Lowery were united in marriage. Their seventy-two year journey of life was full of love, laughter and mutual respect. Audrey and George were constant companions and where one was the other was not far away. Audrey was lovingly called “The Kid” by George; she cherished the name and George.
Audrey and George lived in Maryland until 1969, and moved to Pierpont, Ohio when her husband accepted the position of manager for Spring Creek Farms. While there she continued to be a stay at home wife and mom. She had a very large garden. She either froze or canned her vegetables and delighted in sharing them with the family.
In the early eighties, her husband designed and invented their first hydraulic hoof trimming table, whereby they started their own business, “Corrective Hoof Trimming”. Together they traveled the tristate area trimming hooves on cattle. George could always count on “The Kid” to keep the animal calm with her gentle touch and loving voice while he trimmed the hooves. Audrey assisted by handing him bandages, tools and whatever was needed so that the corrective trim was done in a timely manner. After a hard day’s work of trimming hooves, hey would return home where would clean all of their clothes, pack their bags and prepare their meals in the cooler- ready for the next day or weeks trim. They retired in 2006, but still stayed in touch with many of their friends from their hoof trimming travels.
Audrey had a passion for hummingbirds. She especially enjoyed her yearly BINGO binge when her sisters came up from Maryland to visit and enjoyed playing a game of cards with family. She truly enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends- food was abundant- no one left hungry.
Audrey will be remembered as a wonderful; sister, wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She was very generous and loving person, always greeting family, friends and new acquaintances with a hug and kiss. She will be remembered by her family for comforting them with a warm hug and saying “A kiss will make it better!”
