Obituary of Eddie Lee Colbert

Eddie Colbert ASHTABULA - Eddie Colbert, 93, was greeted in heaven by his loving wife, Catherine on Saturday, April 21, 2018 while a resident of Austinburg Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Eddie was born July 31, 1924 in Macon, GA, the son of Andrew A. and Estelle L. (Robinson) Colbert and had been an Ashtabula resident since 1953. On October 13, 1948 Eddie and Catherine Kurtz were united in marriage. During their sixty-three years of marriage they created many memories that are now treasures of the heart. Catherine was called home on December 18, 2011. Eddie was a dedicated and valuable employee of Elkem Metals and worked 35 years as a crane operator prior to his retirement. A member of Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ, Mr. Colbert enjoyed fishing, playing cards with his friends, reading the newspaper and staying involved with current events. Eddie was a good cook, an avid gardener sharing his talents with friends and family. He liked to relax by siting on his porch and watching the world go by and watching westerns. Eddie's greatest accomplishment was his family; he loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was their biggest fan. Eddie will be remembered for his smile; his work ethic, and his love for his family. Eddie is survived by his children; Eddie (Helen) Colbert, Jr. of Buffalo, NY, Fred Colbert of Ashtabula, Estelle "Ginger" (Rev. Paul) Forney of Columbus, Tamara (Freddie) Powell of Ashtabula, Adrian Colbert of Youngstown, Tommie (Jennifer) Colbert of Ashtabula, Darryl Colbert, Corneal Colbert, Telisa Colbert, all of Ashtabula, and Eddie (Amanda)Colbert, III of Warren; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and loving nieces and nephews.. Eddie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Catherine (Kurtz) Colbert; granddaughter, Atira Colbert; six sisters, Andrea Williams, Claudette Colbert, Ann Tootalian, Joan Bonner, Jean Stanton, and Tamara Miley, and his parents. A Homegoing Service will be held11:00 AM on Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Miracle Temple COGIC, 923 East 16th Street, Ashtabula. Rev. Mitchell Jones, Superintendent will officiate. Rev. Paul W. Forney, Eulogist Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00AM on Friday, April 27, 2018 at the church.
