Obituary of Donald Vernon Anderson

Donald Anderson, 81, died on Thursday, May 17, 2018 UH Cleveland Medical Center after a short illness.

The son of Wesley and Mabel (McClish) Anderson, Don was born on December 24, 1936 in Bedford, Ohio.

Joan Davis and Don were married on October 6, 1962 and would have celebrated fifty-five years of marriage. There journey of life was full of love, laughter and mutual respect. The memories they made are treasures of the heart.

Don was a valuable and dedicated employee of True Temper for thirty years. Don never really retired; he was a self-employed electrical contractor and also worked for the Ashtabula Yacht Club, his" home away from home" for years.

Don was an avid collector of both model trains and tin boxes. All of his trains had their own story on why he collected them and each was a "favorite" in its own way. His many tin boxes were of any shape and size; his collection was extensive and he could tell you where each was collected and what they were used for. Being outdoors was a day well spent. Fishing, boating and hunting were Don's time of solitude. Going to the farm and tinkering, camping with the "girls" and spoiling his grandchildren and great-great grandchildren gave him great joy.

Don will be remembered as a wonderful son, brother, husband, dad, and grandpa. His love of his family was boundless.

Don is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Anderson of Ashtabula; daughters, Joyce (Charles) Lacy of Pasadena, Texas, Lois Anderson of Ashtabula, and Connie Anderson of Kingsville; grandchildren, Stephanie (Jason) Hettinger, Robert (Aimee) Bentley, Lorissa and Julianna Anderson, Dennis (Dawn) Chambers, Stacie Chambers; great grandchildren, Andrew, Colton, Luke, Titus, Andrew and Ava; sisters, Dorothy Fortier and Cathy Hardy; nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his twin brother Ronald, Wesley, and David Anderson; and his parents.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio.
