Obituary of Rose Marie Gouhin

Rose Marie Gouhin Rose Marie Gouhin, 94, of Ashtabula, passed away peacefully, July 22, 2018. She was born July 14, 1924 in Ashtabula the daughter of the late Joseph "Jasper" and Rose (Ambrose) Candela, she attended Ashtabula High School and remained a lifelong area resident. She married Joseph P. Gouhin on May 27, 1944. Joseph and Rose were married 63 years until Joseph's death in 2007. Rose was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parishes in Ashtabula where she served on the Alter and Rosary Society. She was also a member of ISDA, the Italian Sons and Daughters of America, the Anita Gerabaldi Lodge, and the Elk's Lodge. Rose spent many years working the voting polls and eventually became a presiding judge. She also volunteered at St. John's for many years and enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She loved to cook and bake and excelled at both. Rose was especially happy to be residing at Silver Sands the last several years of her life where Jane and her girls and fellow residents became her second family. Rose is survived by her children, Patricia Gouhin of San Diego, CA; Robert Gouhin of Seattle, WA; and son Mark Gouhin who resides in Fiji; grandson, Ben Crowell; granddaughter, Kayla Gouhin; sisters, Tomasina Mauro, Jean Meola, and Delores Peura all of Ashtabula; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her son, Joseph P. Gouhin Jr. in 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 11AM at Our Lady of Peace, St. Joseph Church, 3312 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio with Rev. Fr David Bridling, presiding. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Ashtabula. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Legion Post #103, 1804 W. 19th St., Ashtabula or to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ae., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.
