Obituary of William "Bill" David Tyus, Jr.

Mr. William (Bill) David Tyus Jr., 89, of 1210 East 21st Street Ashtabula, Ohio departed this life peacefully on August 18, 2018 surrounded by loved ones.

He was born July 10, 1929 in Ashtabula Ohio and was born to William David Tyus Sr. and Estella (Washington) Tyus. He was on one of eleven children. William "Bill" attended Ashtabula High School and then enlisted in the United States Armed Forces in 1946. While in the Army Mr. Tyus was a rifleman and truck driver where he operated 7-ton post buses. He also earned numerous honors which included the Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

He was then married to Julia Mae Tyus in 1957 and in 1964 welcomed their son "Billy" into the world. Bill enjoyed photography, deep sea fishing, collecting guns and traveling. He used to enjoy good "southern" food, and would often frequent the Waffle House, Steak and Shake, and KFC, but most of all he enjoyed going to Corky & Lenny's.

William leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Elizabeth Miller of Ashtabula, grandchildren, William and Dale Marie, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mr. Tyus was the epitome of a caring and strong person who had a big smile that emulated from within. His family and friends will greatly miss him--but he will always remain in our hearts and fondest memories.

William (Bill) was preceded in death by his son, William (Billy) Tyus, parents; five brothers, Eddie in infancy, Leroy, Morris, Irving, Rufus, and Fred Tyus; and two sisters, Ruth Miller and Mary Bertha Chatman.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 11AM at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula, with Elder Ronald Hull, officiating. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of service at 11AM.

Interment will follow at the Greenlawn Memory Gardens, 3140 East Center Street, North Kingsville, Ohio 44068.
