Anne Cangro, 94, formerly of Elmont and Port Jefferson Station, NY, passed away peacefully, August 17, 2018 at the Sanctuary of Geneva in Geneva, Ohio. She was born October 23, 1923 in Odessa, Russia, the daughter of the late Michael and Marion (Lachowa) Solodowsky. In 1944, Anne was offered a job as a court interpreter for the Judge Advocate General, a high court in occupied countries, serving with the U.S. Army Air Corp's 9th Airborne Division in WWII. On August 23, 1947 Anne married the love of her life Stanley Vincent Cangro. She moved to the United States from Luxembourg in 1948. She later worked for the French fragrance company Rue Dupont located in Manhattan. Anne was recognized for her WWII service with JAG and was featured in the 2016 D Day Conneaut Reenactment program and ceremonies. She is survived by her daughter, Dorian (Jeffrey) Morrell of Conneaut; son, Gregory (Christine) Cangro of Pennsylvania; sister, Margot Solo; twin-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Victoria Morrell; grandsons, Matthew (Joie) Morrell and Patrick (Sue) Morrell; and great-granddaugher, Gabriella. Anne was preceded in death by her husband Stanley in 1985; and her parents. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11AM at Holy Rood Cemetery, 111 Old Country Rd., Westbury, NY 11590.
