Marie A. Alferink
ASHTABULA – Marie Ann (Vlassich) Alferink, 56, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
The daughter of Charles and Rosalie (Crawford) Vlassich, Marie was born on August 31, 1961 in Ashtabula and remained a lifelong area resident.
Marie was injured in a car accident when she was 25 years old. The accident changed her life and the life of her daughter, Jami. They adapted to her new limitations and continued to enjoy each other's company.
Prior to her accident Marie was employed with Grand Valley Rubber, she enjoyed her job and her fellow employees.
Marie enjoyed fast cars, going for rides, Harley Davidsons, she was very artistic and enjoyed sharing her talents with others. A foodie, Marie appreciated good food and good company. She was an amateur astrologist and enjoyed reading her horoscope. She collected all things playboy, earrings, bracelets, t-shirts which her brother, Frank got for her and whatever else she could locate, her friends and family constantly added to her collection.
Above all Marie appreciated and loved her family. They were there to help maintain a normal life while she raised Jami. Marie was a good mom and grandma; she will be remembered for her courage and determination.
Marie is survived by her beloved daughter Jami Alferink and grandson, Anthon Williams, Jr, the apple of her eye; siblings, Charlene Vlassich, Frank (Jeanine Penna) Vlassich and Kathleen (David) Vlassich-Saturday, nieces and nephew.
Marie was preceded by her parents, Charles and Rosalie Vlassich.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at St. Joseph Cemetery Chapel, Carpenter Road, Ashtabula, Ohio.
