Obituary of Janet L. Powell

Janet L. (Fox) Powell  died, August 25, 2018, peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones. Born April 6, 1949, the youngest daughter of James C. and Jeanne L. (Coover) Fox. Janet spent forty years working as a bookkeeper for gas and oil companies, first Ashtabula Gas and Oil, followed by what is now known as Melzer's Fuel Service. Janet is survived by her two children, Jeff Kinnuen (Paula), and Joleen (Kinnunen) Sundquist (Cyndi), and four grandchildren: Liberty and Glory Kinnunen and Katarina “Klay” (Atticus) and Jonah Sundquist. She is also survived by her two older sisters Barb Wentz and Carol Perry (Dennis), as well as her “other sister” Janet Hawn (Keith), and multiple nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse J. Curtis Powell, and brother-in-law Bill Wentz. In lieu of flowers, her family is asking that donations be made to either the Community Counseling Center Empowerment Fund 2801 “C” Court Ashtabula, OH, or Ashtabula YMCA Stingrays, 264 Prospect Rd. Ashtabula, OH.

Janet and her family would like to express the utmost gratitude to the compassionate and excellent care received through ACMC and the Ashtabula Clinic, as well as the Hospice of Western Reserve. Per Janet's firm request, there will be no public services. Instead, her remembrance will be celebrated privately by her family.
