Obituary of Kenneth Lee Carlson

Kenneth L. Carlson ASHTABULA – Kenneth Lee Carlson, 81, was reunited with his beloved wife, Linda on Thursday, August 30, 2018. Ken was born on May 7, 1937 in Ashtabula and was the son of Carl E. and Evelyn (Congdon) Carlson, and a graduate of Jefferson High School. On August 15, 1959, Ken married Linda McElroy and together they created a loving and nurturing home for their children. Their fifty six years of marriage gave them joy, laughter and companionship and created many memories on their marriage journey. Sadly, Linda passed away on April 4, 2016 and now she and Ken are together once more as it had been for fifty six years. Ken was employed with Pinney Dock and Transport for thirty years and retired as Head Foreman. Ken was also employed with Nelson's Sand and Gravel and Wal-Mart, where he was known as the "Candy Man" Ken was a member of Ashtabula Elks # 208 and Relief Lodge #284 F&AM of Pierpont, Ohio Ken and Linda enjoyed traveling and camping and taking their family on their annual "Spring Break" vacation to Florida, those memories are treasures of the heart. He was a member of the Elks bowling and golf leagues where he enjoyed spending time with his friends. He was a fan of the UNC "Tarheel" basketball team. Ken's survivors include their four children; Sandie L. Saddler, Deborah L. (Chip) Cowger, Donna L. (Rodger) Swogger, and Rick L. (Stephenie) Carlson; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Josh, Jamie, Jenna, Jordan, Lyndsey, Crystal, Abby, and Matthew; and nine great-grandchildren, Jay, Emalee, Nolan, Kaleb, Katie, Jayden, Owen, Sloan, and Greyson; his brother, Larry Carlson; sisters-in-law, Barbara Carlson and Barbara Carlson; loving nieces and nephews. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and his infant children, Pamela Jean and Steven Lee; brothers, David Carlson and Robert Carlson; sister-in-law, Jeanne Carlson; and his beloved dog, Snuggles. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 5 to 7 PM with a service at 7 PM at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula.
