Obituary of Adele Joy Herzog

Adele J. Herzog, 64, of Saybrook Twp., Ashtabula passed away at sunset on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

 

Born July 15, 1954 in Ashtabula, she was the daughter of the late Gaetano and Flora (Cimini) St. Angelo and graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1972.

 

Adele married the love of her life William Herzog on August 24, 1974 and they began their wonderful journey together enjoying many years of travelling and spending lots of time with their children, family, and friends.

 

Adele worked as a cosmetic consultant for Lancome for many years, often helping behind the counter at Dillard's and Macy's. She loved fashion and always looked exquisite.

 

Adele will always be remembered for her signature smile that would light up a room and her infectious laugh. She always made those around her happier. A devoted wife and mother, she loved to cook homemade meals that were always accompanied by dessert.

 

A member of the Ashtabula Arts Center and Women's Service League, she previously served on the board and chaired the Theater Arts Ball on several occasions. She was also a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish (Mt. Carmel Church).

 

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Bill Herzog; children, Julie and Jenna Herzog of Bratenahl, and Billy Herzog of Raleigh, NC; sisters, Sandra (Fred) Gage and MaryAnn (Doug deceased) Chapman, both of Ashtabula, Lisa (David) Sires of Brighton, MI, and Rosalyn (Mike) Kane of Willoughby Hills.

 

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Maria Herzog in 1982 at birth; a brother, David St. Angelo at birth; and her parents.

 

Visitation will be Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 3-7 PM at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Monday, September 24 at Our Lady of Peace Parish Mt. Carmel Church, 1200 East 21th Street, Ashtabula with Fr. David Bridling presiding. Burial will follow at Ridgeview Cemetery.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve (memo David Simpson Hospice House), 300 East 185th St., Cleveland, OH 44119 and the Alzheimer's Association, 8522 East Avenue, Mentor, OH 44060.

 

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Charlotte Graeb (her best friend) and Kathy Germack, her personal caregivers and the staff at the David Simpson Hospice House for the complete and compassionate care they provided Adele and for the countless butterflies that flocked to the tree outside her window bringing comfort to all her family as she completed this final transition in life.
