Obituary of Jeffery Paul Meaney

Jeffery Paul Meaney, 65, of Ashtabula, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the Cleveland Clinic Cardiac ICU, after an unexpected heart attack and related complications. He was born May 1, 1953 in Ashtabula, the son of the late Maynard and Mae (Helm) Meaney. Jeff was a 1971 graduate of Edgewood High School and attended Bowling Green University. He was a lifelong resident of Ashtabula working on various construction jobs until retiring early due to a disability. Jeff was a proud and intense gardener, working with and under the guidance of his neighbor and close friend, Bill Dixon. His garden left visitors in awe. He provided a helping hand to all his neighbors and friends in so many ways and will be sadly missed. Jeff was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan and loyal supporter of the Buckeyes. With many thanks from his brother Mike and neighbor Susan, Jeff never turned down an opportunity to dog-sit for his four-legged friends "Lucy" and "Bailey". Jeff was also a member of the Y.M.S.C. He is survived by his sisters, Cindy A. (Dale) Meaney- Massai, Laurie K. (Bill Wiser) Meaney, Roberta H. (Brian) Winston; brother, Michael P. Meaney; nephews, Michael P. Meaney, Drew Massai, and Joseph P. Meaney; nieces, Kelly McCumber, Sarah Winston, Maggie Meaney, and Kathleen Winston. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, and nephew, Patrick Winston. A graveside service for friends and family who wish to attend will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 12:00 PM (noon) at Edgewood Cemetery, State Rd., Ashtabula. In lieu of calling hours, a celebration of life will be immediately following the graveside services at the East Ashtabula Club Pavilion on Columbus Ave. from 1-4PM. No flowers please.
