Barbara A. Hixon

KINGSVILLE- Barbara Ann Hixon, 65, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 while a resident of Ashtabula County Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.

The daughter of Raymond and Margaret (Shears) Sirbaugh, Barb was born in Kingwood, WV on June 23, 1953. She was a graduate of Kingwood High School and Business College.

Barb and Joseph Hixon were united in marriage on April 12, 1983 and enjoyed their time together until Joe’s death in 2007.

Barb enjoyed computers; whether it was shopping, playing games or chatting with her many friends on Facebook she could be found sitting at the computer. She enjoyed reading romance novels and loving on her dogs.

Barb’s passion was her family. Her son, Carmelo and his children as well as her sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews filled her life with joy and laughter.

Barb is survived by her son, Carmelo and his wife, Joni Colon of Basigilo, Italy; beloved grandchildren, Brittanie, Christopher, Alexander, Derreck Colon and Sara Thompson; precious great-grandchildren, Eric and Mary Colon; siblings, Rose Marie Ortiz of Ashtabula, Daniel (Joann) Ervin of Arthurdale, WV, Raymond Sirbaugh of Lorain and Gary (Jackie) Sirbaugh of North Royalton; many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hixon, siblings, Patrick and Patricia Sirbaugh, Roger Ervin and her parents.

Funeral services will be at 4:00PM on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio. Burial will be at Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.

Calling hours will be observed from 2:00PM until time of services at 4:00PM on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the Ducro Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Ashtabula County Nursing Home and the Hospice of Western Reserve for their compassionate care given to Barb during her illness.
