Esther Jopperi

CINCINNATI, OH – Esther Jopperi, 103, formerly of Ashtabula, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018.

                She was born May 14, 1915, in Ashtabula, OH, to the late Sanna (Wiita) and Lauri Rasanen, both immigrants from Finland.  She had one brother, Lauri (deceased).

                For 58 years, she was married to the late Matt Jopperi.  Together they raised their devoted children Richard Jopperi (Nancy, both deceased); Allan Jopperi (deceased), survived by spouse Mary Ann, Akron, OH; Karen Salmen (Jerry), Cincinnati, OH; and Bob Jopperi (Libby), Orlando, FL.

                Esther was the proud grandmother of Eric Jopperi (Andrea), Katy Davis (Dave), Steve Salmen, Greg Salmen, and Matt Jopperi.  Her beloved great grandchildren are Maren and David Davis; John, Claire, and Hunter Jopperi.

                She grew up in Conneaut, OH, and raised her family in Ashtabula, OH, until she relocated in recent years to Canton, OH, and then to Cincinnati, OH.

                Esther was a homemaker in Ashtabula after helping her mother run a dairy farm in Conneaut.  She enjoyed making the Finnish coffee bread "nisua" and other delicious baked goods.  In Ashtabula, she was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church (Lighted Cross Lutheran Church).

                Visitation will be at 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at the Lighted Cross Lutheran Church, 2310 West 9^th St., Ashtabula.  Rev. Thomas Moyes will officiate.  Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Conneaut.
