Janet Lee

JEFFERSON – Janet Lee, 81, passed away surrounded by loving family on Monday, December 24, 2018 at the family home of her daughter, Brian and Barbara Elliott with whom she lived.

The daughter of George Joseph and Bernadette (Schloff) Julien, Janet was born on October 25, 1937 in Wyandotte, Michigan. Janet spent her youth at Wamplers’ Lake in Irish Hills, Michigan. This is where Janet developed her love of swimming. She and her children would often visit Irish Hills adding special memories which they often shared

A graduate of Onstead High School, Janet went to Airlines School in Omaha, Nebraska and worked for Eastern Airlines in Cleveland. After her children graduated Janet fulfilled her lifelong dream of attending college. She began her journey at Henry Ford Community College receiving her Associates of Arts Degree; from there she attended Eastern Michigan University of Ypsilanti, Michigan graduating Cum Laude, earning her Bachelor of Science Degree. Janet became a Licensed Social Worker in 1992, was ordained as a minister in February 1994 and was certified as a Reiki Master in 1996. Janet would often say; “An education is one thing people can’t take away from you”.

Janet was employed as a Social Worker for many years; her last position was at the Conneaut Prison, where she made a difference in lives of those she served. Janet had a love of learning and sharing that love with those she met along her journey, especially the young people, whom she dearly loved.

Janet was an avid quilter often creating her own patterns as well as those for knitting and crocheting. She received great enjoyment from reading and sharing her creative talents with her family and friends.

A wonderful, daughter, sister, mom, grandma and great grandma, Janet maintained a quiet strength through adversity she remained gracious, devoted and strong.   Janet’s love for her family was intense and unconditional.

Janet is survived by her children, Catherine Anne(Charles) Bell of Altamonte Springs, Florida, Michael James Carducci, Laura Christina (Raymond) Saladino, both of Greeneville, Tennessee and Barbara Lee(Brian) Elliott of Jefferson; grandchildren, Erin(Derek) Bower, Michael Webb, Charlie Bell, Leona Rodabaugh, Brianna Elliott and her fiancé Dwight Thompson whom she considered a grandchild; great grandchild, Abigail Bower; siblings, George Joseph “Sonny”(Sharon) Julien, II of Tennessee, John Allan Julien, Gerald James (Sue) Julien both of Michigan, Juliet Anne (Dan) Waites also of Tennessee, Mary Margaret Julien also of Michigan; special extended family Liz Chiarelli, Carole Wright, Gabriel Carducci and his family and Lisa Talladino  and her children Joey and Angelo who considered Janet their grandma; many loving nieces and nephews and co-workers with whom she shared her love of life.

Janet was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Mae Goff and her parents.

A Celebration of Janet’s Life will be held from 3PM until 5PM on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Jefferson United Methodist Church, 121 East Jefferson Street, Ohio with dinner to follow.
