ASHTABULA – Dale Albert Corlew, 81, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, December 31, 2018 at his home. He passed away peacefully with his loving family at his bedside immediately following prayer.  

          He was born February 14, 1937 in Ashtabula, the son of Rudd and Gladys Irene (Underwood) Corlew and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident.

          A 1955 graduate of Edgewood High School, he married Nancy Marie King on September 27, 1958 in St. Joseph Church, Warren, PA. An exceptional athlete, Dale was a member of the Ashtabula County Football Hall of Fame. He was a Consensus Wigwam All American halfback.

          A veteran of the U.S.  Marine Corps, he was honorably discharged in 1957.

          Prior to his retirement, he worked as an electrician with Millennium Inorganic Chemicals. Previous he worked at General Tire Corporation, where he served as Union President for United Rubber Workers.

          He belonged to Our Lady of Peace Parish and enjoyed hunting, golfing, and fishing. Dale was a fan of Cleveland sports teams and the Buckeyes.

          His survivors include five children, Dale J. (Cheryl) Corlew of Ashtabula, Lisa R. (Ryan) Scafuro of Concord, Gregory A. Corlew of Detroit, OR, Bradley T. (Linda) Corlew of Fort Worth, Texas, and Lance A. (Isoan) Corlew of Winter Haven, FL; 13 grandchildren, Courtney(Corey Dunn)Corlew, Ryan (Amanda) Corlew, Caleb(Amanda) Corlew, Matthew, Precious, Cherish (Alex) Reed, Joshua(Hannah) Corlew, Mercy Joy, Elisha, Hannah, Jaime Hayes, Heather (Tim) Van Drei, and Christian Scafuro; five great-grandchildren, Kiernan, Kaylynn, Judah, Elia, and Kylee; two sisters, Betty Emery and Alice Noss; two brothers, Ronald Corlew and Fred Corlew; and many nieces and nephews.

          He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Marie (King) Corlew on May 17, 2007; three brothers,Rudd, Raymond, and Gerald Corlew; one sister, Shirley McMillion; and his parents.

          A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00AM on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Our Lady of Peace Parish, Mother of Sorrows Church, 1464 West 6th Street, Ashtabula.  Rev. Raymond Thomas, Pastor will preside.  Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.

          Calling hours will be from 4:00PM to 7:00PM on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula.
