Obituary of Kathryn Hopes

AKathy L. Hopes, 76, died unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, May 2, 2019.

She was born on December 10, 1942 in Chardon, Ohio the daughter of Alexander and Noreen (Brownfield) VanGieson.

When her children were younger she founded the Geneva Little Eagles League. Kathy took great pride in there being an all-inclusive league that provided a positive atmosphere where special needs children could also enjoy playing ball.

Kathy is survived by her husband, William Hopes, whom she married on December 10, 1976; children, Dodi (Tony) McNary, Debi (Joe) Zappitelli, David Pomeroy, Dennelle (John) Ripka, and Daniel (Jessica) Hopes; grandchildren, Shawn (Dawn Huntington) Cole, Crystal (David) Francway, A.J. McNary, Jason Turner, Stephanie (Chuck) Jacobs, Christoper (Leanne) Horton, Andi Roberts, Sierra, Ian and Arlen Ripka, Amber (Jimmy) Harr, Emily Erwin and Lauren Masirovits; 11 great-grandchildren; and her siblings.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Dawn Pomeroy; and infant twin daughters, Doreen and Darlene.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 10-11AM at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, 2140 E. Center Rd., North Kingsville where funeral services will follow at 11AM.

Memorials in memory may be given to the APL, 5970 Green Rd., Ashtabula.
