Obituary of Robert Lewis Edkins

Robert Edkins, 91, of Centerville, Pennsylvania passed away Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Meadville Medical Center. Robert was born January 14, 1928 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Leroy Charles and Florence (Golden) Edkins. On May 2, 1948, Robert married the love of his life Leona Hochburg. Robert was a builder. He owned and operated Edkins Construction for many years. He took great pride in the beautiful homes that he built for so many families to enjoy, including his own. Robert taught his own children the craft of building and even participated in projects with his daughter Joy recently. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time outdoors. Robert was an animal lover. He especially cared for horses and dogs. Before Robert passed, his family brought his sweet dog Jenny, whom he rescued years prior, to his bedside for a final goodbye. Robert will be dearly missed by his children, Bob (Cindy) Edkins, Carol (Chris) Perkins and Joy Edkins-Spontarelli.; grandchildren Bobby III, Nichole, Cassey, Chris, Sherry, Deidra and James; along with many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his wife of 69 years, Leona Edkins; his parents; children, Charles and Forence Edkins; and siblings, William Edkins, Evelyn Davis and Agnes (Aggie) McWilliams. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 1:30P.M. at the CHILDS-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 1071 St. Rt. 7 N., Pierpont, Ohio 44082 with Rev. Larry Carr, Pastor, Officiating.
