Obituary of Therese Marie Sassler

Therese Marie (Kasper) Sassler, 88, of Parkton, Maryland and formally of Ashtabula, Ohio, died July 5, 2019 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.

Therese was born December 10, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio; the daughter of Edward & Julia (Coufalik) Kasper. She was a homemaker and lived in Cleveland for 28 years before moving to Ashtabula where her husband, Joseph, owned and operated The Roselawn (Sasslers Steakhouse).

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph in 1997; her son, Thomas on January 18, 2015; granddaughter Ashley Sassler; and her brother, Richard Kasper of Avon Lake Ohio.

After the death of her husband she moved to Maryland. She is survived by her three sons, Mark (June) of Parkton Maryland, Paul of Ashtabula Ohio, and Joseph (Kimberly) of Charleston, West Virginia; her brother, Thomas Kasper of Parma Ohio; her ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Sassler was very involved with Our Lady of Grace church in Parkton Maryland as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. While residing in Ashtabula she was past Grand Regent of the Catholic Daughters of Court # 393; as well as a member of the Parish Council of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel; and Vice-President and Treasurer of St. Johns High School Booster Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Therese may be given to Catholic Charities, 4200 Park Avenue, Ste 3, Ashtabula, Ohio, 44004. Envelopes will be available at the church.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Friday, July 26, 2019 at 12:00PM at Our Lady of Peace, Mt Carmel.
