Obituary of Henry Joseph Majdecki

Henry Joseph “Hank” Majdecki, 87, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the Jefferson Healthcare.

He was born July 9, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA the son of the Marion and Anna (Nierychwa) Majdecki and had been an area resident for over 20 years, moving here from Mentor.

He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in History from Alliance College and Master’s in Administration from Western Reserve University and worked 30 years in the Cleveland Public Schools before he retired in 1984 as a Principal.

Always proud of his Catholic faith, he was a member of Our Lady of Peace, St. Joseph Church and was also a member of the Ashtabula Elks #208 where he had served as Chaplain for several years.

Hank was an accomplished artist; he enjoyed painting in both water color and oils; a sculptor and talented woodworker always creating unique pieces to share with his friends and family.  Hank enjoyed history and was a participant in the Blakeslee Log Cabin Days for many years. His knowledge of history was a great addition to the members of the group.

His survivors include his sister, Adela Kushner of Painesville; and his nephew, Kenneth (Michelle) Kushner of Ashtabula; his niece, Karen (Donald) Kehr of Concord.

Hank was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Chester and Edmond Majdecki.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from 5 to 7 PM at Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio, 44004. Ashtabula Elks #208 will conduct their memorial service at 7PM after calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Our Lady of Peace St. Joseph Church, 3330 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula.  Rev. David Bridling will preside. Burial will be in Christ the Redeemer Cemetery Northeast, Pittsburgh, PA.
