ASHTABULA - Jerry Wayne Farman, 79, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2019 at the UH-Case Medical Center.  He was born on September 12, 1940 in, the son of John and Antoinette (Schossler) Farman.

A 1958 graduate of Harbor High School, he married the love of his life, Janet Hickok, on June 20, 1964, and they shared 53 years together until her passing in 2017.  A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Vietnam War stationed in Richmond, IN as a Military Police Officer K-9 Handler.

Prior to his retirement in 2002 as an engineer, he worked 42 years for the railroad, first for the New York Central, then Conrail, and finally Norfolk Southern.

Jerry loved to drive, whether it was in his 20’s racing cars, in his 30’s and 40’s travelling, or later in life leading camping trips and family vacations. He showed his corvette at car shows and eventually sold it to build a garage for his motor home.  After getting married, he and Janet became active travelers, visiting each of the continental 48 states at least twice.  For many years, they spent time in Ft. Myers Beach every spring.

An avid collector of Lionel Model Trains, he also loved woodworking and volunteered to do woodworking projects for friends and family.

He was known for leading many cheers at Ashtabula High School and Lakeside High School for various athletic events, especially the football games, and always supported the schools.  He attended Saybrook United Methodist Church for many years and was an active volunteer, known for being the designated hotdog cooker for the church craft shows.

His favorite color was blue so please wear blue in his memory to honor him.
