Louise A. Dunn

ASHTABULA- Louise Ann Dunn, 89, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2019 while a resident of Saybrook Landing.

The daughter of Charles and Caroline (Lang) Prasek, Louise was born on May 24, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio. A graduate of Andrews School for Girls; Louise received her associates degree in Social Work from Akron University. Louise began college later in life and so enjoyed the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people while she attended college.

Louise is a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, St. Joseph church.

In June of 1948 Louise and Donald Dunn were married for sixty six years. Their marriage was one of love and mutual admiration. Together they created many cherished memories along the way. Louise was employed with Hooker-Detrex and Ashtabula Bow Socket.

For many years Louise was a counselor with Glenbeigh Hospital-Rock Creek. She felt privileged to help her clients in their journey of life. Louise retired three times and each time Glenbeigh asked that she return to help those people in need. Louise retired at the age of eighty-five.  Louise knew the difficulties some of her clients were facing in their daily Lives; she was a forty-one year member of AA. She was proud of her sobriety and shared her story with others. She hosted AA Discussion Group in her home for many years and continued hosting at Saybrook Landing until two weeks prior to her passing.

Louise was a member and former president of the League of Women Voters; she felt it necessary to be informed and to inform others of the happenings in today’s world. A Master Gardener of Ohio Louise enjoyed working in her gardens and sharing her knowledge with others. She enjoyed being surrounded in the beauty of her gardens. Louise had a knack for creating beautiful wall hangings and rubbings to share with her friends and family. While her children were young she was a Girl Scout Troop Leader and a member of the Edgewood Band Boosters. Louise was a dedicated Volunteer with the Hospice of the Western Reserve. She was kind, caring and compassionate.

Louise will be remembered for her loving care she shared with her family, friends, and clients.

Louise is survived by her children, Dianne (Rick) Frazier of Massachusetts and Marty Dunn of Ashtabula, grandchildren, Alissa, Lianna and Savanna; siblings, Alan Prasek, David Prasek and Diane Harshaw; nieces and nephews.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, her brother Lawrence Prasek and her parents.

Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at 4:00PM at the Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio, 44004.

Visitation will be observed from 2:00PM until time of service at 4:00PM on Sunday, December 22 at the funeral home.

If desired, contributions in Louise’s name may be made to the APL, 5970 Green Road, Ashtabula, Ohio, 44004 or the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio, 44004.

Dianne and Marty would like to thank the Staff of Saybrook Landing and Hospice of the Western Reserve for the loving care shown to Louise. They appreciate the love and care which was given to her on her journey home.
