Laverne H. Koivisto

ERIE-Laverne H. Pachkoski Koivisto, 86 of Springboro PA, formerly of Ashtabula passed away peacefully at UPMC Hamot December 14, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

Born July 27, 1933 in Cleveland OH, Laverne is the daughter of Stanley and Viola (Zelinsky) Zmersky.

Laverne and Walter Pachkoski were united in marriage in 1952 they created many memories along the way during their twenty nine years of marriage until Walter’s death 1981. Laverne was fortunate enough to find love when she met and married Rudolf Koivisto in 1983 and they too, created memories to share until his death in 1992.

Laverne attended of Our Lady of Peace Parish, Mother of Sorrows Church.

Laverne was employed by NAMCO Controls for 15 years in Jefferson OH.

Laverne was a member of VFW Auxiliary Post #943 of Ashtabula for many years. She enjoyed baking, gardening, and spending time with family. A proud member of the Red Hat Society, no one wore the purple and red better than Laverne!

Laverne is survived by three daughters, Christine (Mark) Ul, Patricia (Kevin) Marburger, Therese (Jeff) Ernst; five step-children; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. 

Laverne was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Pachkoski; sister, Adeline Hitchcock; brother Stanley Zmersky. 

Funeral Services will be held at 5PM on Friday, December 20, 2019 at the Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio. Rev. Raymond Thomas will preside.
