Obituary of Glenn Ray Knight

Glenn Ray Knight, 48, of Ashtabula passed away December 21, 2019 at UH- Case Western Medical Center after a courageous battle with a brain cancer.
He was born May 24, 1971 in Ashtabula the son of Bernard Ray and Judy Kay (Hollback) Knight. He was a lifelong area resident graduating from Geneva High School Class of 1989. He loved to swim and as a teenager completed the lifeguard training at the YMCA and throughout his life he enjoyed teaching his niece, cousins, children and grandchildren to swim. After high school he enlisted and honorably served our country in the United States Navy during Operation Desert Storm of the Gulf War. He was stationed in Bremerton, WA and served on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Nimitz.
After serving our country Glenn worked in various construction jobs in the Union, primarily working on high rise bridges. He was on the crew that helped build the Smollen Gulf Covered Bridge. He was an avid Cleveland Browns Fan and enjoyed riding his Harley. He also enjoyed camping with his family across the country, dirt bike and ATV riding with his friend Brian, hunting and fishing but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his parents, Bernard Ray and Judy Knight; fiancé, Melissa Garside; children, Brittany Knight and Seth Knight; step-children, Chasity and Gregory Coy; sister, Christina “Christy” (Ernie Auxier) Knight, niece Kaylynn Auxier; grandchildren, Logan and Luke Freede, and February Parker; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Glenn was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herbert “Tiny” and Helen Hollback, John and Cora Knight, Aunts Rhonda Sue Fisher and Della Westfall, and best friend and Navy buddy Brian Magda.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at 4PM at the Zaback-Williams- Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2PM until the time of service at 4PM
Glenn will be inurned at Greenlawn Memory Gardens at the convenience of the family.
Should friends desire memorial contributions may be made in his name to the family.
