Obituary of Betty Jean Moore

Betty J. Moore ASHTABULA- Betty Jean Moore, 80, joined her beloved husband, Gomer on Saturday, March 7, 2020. The daughter of Hollie and Mary Belle (Dawson) Smith, Betty was born on January 25, 1940 in Bluefield, WV. Betty married Gomer Moore on February 7, 1961 in Ashtabula. Betty and Gomer enjoyed being married and raising a family. For forty two years they created many memories. Gomer died on August 18, 2003 and those memories are now treasures of the heart. Betty was employed with Premix as a press operator for many years. She enjoyed the friendships she made while working and kept in touch with many of her coworkers after her retirement. Betty owned B.J. Ceramics for many years and enjoyed sharing her creative talents with her many customers. She admired their many creations and encouraged them in their endeavors. In her quiet time Betty read romance novels, she always liked happy endings. A wonderful cook, Betty was pleased when she could share her home with family and friends. She loved being a wife, mom and granny; her life was truly blessed by her family. Betty is survived by her sons, Michael Moore of Kentucky and Mark(Melissa) Moore of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Jonathon, Whitney, Dustin, Victoria, Nolan, Lyndara, Joshua, Justin, Julie and Jayden; great grandson, Alex; sisters, Joanne Arrington of Indiana and Janette Davis of South Carolina; many loving nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gomer; her siblings, Ruby Waldron, Estel, Cecil, Orville, Donald, Lee, Delbert and Dexter; a grandchild in infancy; and her parents. Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, March 13, 2020; at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio, 44004. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery. Calling hours will be observed from 6PM until 8PM on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Ducro Funeral Home.
