Obituary of Christiane M. Stroud

Please share a memory of Christiane to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jefferson, OH - Christiane M. Wasson Stroud, 50, earned her wings on Monday April 20, 2020, surrounded by family at her home. Although she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2017, she tirelessly researched and self-treated; struggling to hold off her disease on her terms. She lived her life as a warrior, vividly and to the fullest. She was born on December 12, 1969 in Baltimore, Maryland to Roger Wasson and Elizabeth (Thorpe) Wasson. Christiane graduated from the Geneva High School Class of 1988 and received her LPN from the Knoedler School of Practical Nursing in 1999. She enjoyed nursing and being a healer and worked for several facilities bringing comfort, joy and laughter to her patients. Christi was a Senior Fitness, Yoga and EnerChi Instructor, a Reiki Practitioner, was Lightbody accredited, and a Certified Nutritionist. She helped develop a revolutionary Alzheimer’s care program, Svayus. In addition, she was a member of the Illumin8 Community. Christi was an open-minded seeker of enlightenment, truth, and light. As a self-proclaimed “PITA” and “WITCHY WOMAN”, Christi was also proud of her Irish heritage and everyone will miss her “shenanigans”. She loved all animals and was a dedicated mom to furry and feathered children, always around the home. She also loved gardening, spending time appreciating her property and capturing lovely moments of wildlife and scenery with her camera. Christiane had a phenomenal gift and capacity for love, blending others into an ever-growing family circle that has become too large to list. Closest to her are her children; devoted daughter Ashley Vincent and partner Scott Holy, and her miracle “boy”, Timmie Keen. Her “parental unit” includes Beth Chelm, Karen Reiter, Roger Wasson, Keith Chelm and Craig Reiter. Also family: brother, John Kenny; “seester” by choice, Christina Bratzel (a combination which caused moms to begin a bail money fund) and her two children, Andre’ and Alayna Hanna; niece of her heart, Chelsea Fleming Dowdy; uncle (but brother by love), Wesley Wasson and his wife Karen; special aunt and mother of her heart, Barbara Smith and husband Tom. Christi maintained a special bond with Ashley’s father, Michael Vincent. She loved and “mom-ed” many, especially Jennifer and Elizabeth Stroud, and particularly cherished her role as a nana. Recognition goes to the hundreds of social media relationships for sharing their encouragement and support and that have relied on and appreciated her rants - “THAT IS ALL”, her wise philosophy on life, her humorous observations and imaginative pranks. With brave wings, she flies into the the arms of her devoted grandparents, Roger and Evelyn Wasson and James and Del Thorpe. The public is invited to “drive-through” at Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect St., Ashtabula, on Saturday, April 25, 2020 from 4-6 PM (PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DAY AND TIME OF DRIVE-THROUGH) where her family will receive guests from a safe distance under the front porch of the funeral home. A guest book will be available for signing and a tribute video can be viewed from a parking space. The family wishes to thank the Crossroads Hospice for the loving care they provided Christiane during her transition.
