Cleta V. Froelich, 93, of Ashtabula passed away peacefully Saturday, May 16, 2020 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home. She was born October 13, 1926 in Renick, WV the daughter of the late Tony and Mary (Curry) Crane. Cleta graduated from Renick High School in 1946. That summer, she moved to Ashtabula to live. She met and married her late husband, Robert on September 20, 1950. She was a long time member of Ashtabula First Baptist Church where she enjoyed being part of the Ladies Circle and the Women’s Society helping with many mission organizations. She also has been a camp counselor at Camp Koinonia in Geneva, OH. As her children all reached school age she started working at Ridgeview Elementary in the cafeteria, working her way up to manager before she retired after 17 years. During her retirement, she enjoyed camping, traveling with her husband and spending time with her children and her grandchildren. She is survived by her children; Bob (Louise) Froelich of Conneaut, OH, Darlene (Joe) Ritchey of Mesa, CO and Dave (Eileen) Froelich of Geneva, OH; her brother, Richard (Sandie) Crane of Brunswick, OH; Grandchildren; Ryan, Steven, James, Tim, John, Amy, Sara, and Katie; and 8 great-grandchildren. Cleta was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, sisters; her twin, Theta Corlew, Annie Hinkle, Madeline Thompson, and Stella Hanna; two infant grandchildren, and her parents. Due to the current COVID-19 situation, private family services will be held. Interment will take place at Greenlawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Ashtabula First Baptist Church, 4353 Park Ave. Ashtabula, OH 44004.
