Mary I. Houser
ASHTABULA- Mary Irene Houser, 95 left her earthly life on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 and is now reunited with her beloved husband, Robert.
The daughter of Earl and Angie (Ecklund) Massena, Mary was born on January 6, 1925 in Ashtabula and was a graduate of Ashtabula high School, class of 1944.
Mary and Robert Houser were united in marriage on June 15, 1944 in El Paso, Texas. Their marriage of fifty six years was one of love, commitment and mutual respect. The home they created was a haven for family and friends. Everyone looked forward to spending time with Mary and Bob.
Mary was a member of Harris Memorial Presbyterian Church; she enjoyed the many memories that were made with members of the congregation.
Mary was no stranger to hard work and worked at Dalkamper’s for many years and retired from MFG after five years of service.
Mary enjoyed sports; she cheered for the Indians, Cavs and Browns and was an Ohio State Buckeye supporter. Mary enjoyed working in her flower gardens which attracted hummingbirds where she could sit for hours and enjoy the beauty that she had created with her careful tending of her flowers.
Mary’s joy came from her family; she loved them and was in love with them. Her children were the best children; her grandchildren were the smartest and most talented; her great-great grandchildren were most precious in her sight.
Mary is survived by her children, Judith DeAngelo and Robert (Stacy) Houser, Jr. ;nine grandchildren, John (Esther) Rose, Jr., Robert (Tammy) Rose, Kirsten (Brian Korelec) Hale of Ashtabula, Shawn Houser, Tracey(Darren) Deak, Nathan (Kayla) Houser, Lisa (Mike) Ishee and Denise Houser; twenty seven great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren; former daughter-in-law, Mary DiBenedetto.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; son, Dennis Houser; brothers, Donald Massena and John ”Jack” Massena; son-in-law Joseph DeAngelo; cousin, Robert Bogar, whom she loved as a brother; her parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, June 26, 2020 at the Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio. Burial will be in Saybrook Cemetery, Saybrook, Ohio.
A calling hour will be observed from 11AM until time of services at 12 Noon on Friday, June 26, 2020 at the funeral home.
