Obituary of Ida Pearl Braswell

Ida Pearl Braswell, 85, of Ashtabula was granted her eternal rest from her earthly labor by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 9, 2020.
Mother Braswell, (everyone knew her as Pearl) was born July 22, 1934 in Memphis, TN to Harry and Musette (Watkins) Reid.
Pearl moved to Ashtabula, Ohio in 1957 where she met and married her husband, Jimmie Clarence Braswell on November 19, 1958. To that union was born one (1) son, Roderick Braswell of Englewood, OH.
Mother Braswell was formerly employed by Ashtabula County Medical Center and Frederick Specialty. She was a devoted wife and mother who cherished and adored her family. Her home was often filled with the aroma of fresh home cooking.
Pearl was a longtime faithful and dedicated member of the Peoples Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years in the youth department. Pearl also served faithfully in the culinary ministry, Faithful Ruth Society, Senior Choir and the Mothers’ ministries. Whatever her hands found to do she did it with all her might, knowing that God had a purpose for her life. She had a pure heart always desiring to please God through her kind and gentle service.
Left to cherish her loving memory are sons, Roderick (Donna) Braswell of Englewood, OH, Tony Braswell of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter, Arlene Reed of Memphis, TN; sisters, Lula Simmons of Norwalk, CT, Harriett Young, Virginia Hall, and brother, Glenn Reid all from Memphis, TN; four grandchildren; goddaughter, Laydean Young; and a host of nieces, nephews, Peoples Missionary Baptist Church family; and dearest friends, Erma Holley, Willietta B. Marbury, Tinnie Hall, Arthur & Doris Thompson, Mary Jean Fleming, and Loisteen Scruggs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jimmie C. Braswell ; sister, Shirley Reid; granddaughter, Rachel Wells; aunt, Grace Gordon; and closest friend, Willie Mae Sandidge.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM Monday, July 20, 2020 at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula with Rev. Dr. German Womack, Pastor of Peoples Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgeview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, July 19, 2020 from 5 to 8 PM at the Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.
