Obituary of Wilma L. Wight

Wilma Louise Wight, 90, died peacefully Friday, August 21, 2020 at her home with her beloved son Brad by her side. Born in Ashtabula on August 3, 1930 the daughter of Herman and Lilyan (Barrows) Schlein, she was a lifelong area resident. A graduate of Edgewood High School, she earned her diploma in 1963 after returning to school to complete her education as an adult. She worked in administrative roles for Stouffer Herzog Insurance, Kelly Services, and Greenlawn Memory Gardens during her career. On August 30, 1947, she married the love of her life, Don Wight. She was a member of East Side Presbyterian Church and volunteered as a Grey Lady at Ashtabula County Medical Center. She enjoyed dancing, flowers, and listening to music, especially ABBA. Wilma was always a professional, kind and caring, and committed to making sure whatever task she was working on was done right. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Her survivors include two children, Brad Wight of Ashtabula and Susan Wight Yates of Santa Paula, CA; four grandchildren, Gregg Yates, Jenni (Chris) Prouty, PJ (Nubia) Yates, and Kevin Wight; and four great-grandchildren, Jordan and Joshua Cardarelli, Peregrine Harper Wight, and Jocelyn Yates. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Thomas Wight on November 28, 2010; her grandson, Shawn Wight; her sister, Eunice Barnes; and her parents. A graveside service will be held 11AM Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, 3140 East Center St. (SR 20), North Kingsville where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
