Obituary of Donald Francis Otto

Donald Francis Otto, 79, of Saybrook Township, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2020 in his home surrounded by loved ones. For 34 years, he was married to the love of his life, Shirley (Rice) Otto; she preceded him in death in 2006. Born July 9, 1941 in Ashtabula, he was the son of the late Francis Elwood and Annabelle (Asp) Otto. A native to Ashtabula County, Donald was a 1959 Graduate of Ashtabula High School. Alongside his wife, Donald was a HAM radio operator for 27 years and belonged to the Ashtabula and Conneaut Amateur Radio Club where he was known by the name "WD80CV." Over the years Don worked at Inman Container, RMI, and then retired from Ashcraft Industries. Left to cherish his memories are his three sons, Fran (wife, Marily) Otto, Jim (wife, Annie) Otto, and Eugene (wife, Fe) Otto; two step-sons, John (wife, Sandy) Turner and Bruce Turner; two step-daughters, Debbie Turner and Peggy Turner; his sister, Janice Kelley; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his twin granddaughters, Alexus and Alexandra Otto in 1996 and his grandson, Nicholas Otto who passed on July 22, 2019. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Mausoleum Chapel at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, 3140 E. Center St., North Kingsville, Ohio 44068, with funeral services immediately to follow at 2 p.m. Donald will be laid to rest at the adjoining cemetery.
