Obituary of Norma Erickson

Norma J. Erickson ASHTABULA –Norma Jean Erickson 89, Passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020 while a patient at ACMC. The daughter of Thomas and Minnie (Desko) Verde, Norma was born on October 19, 1930 in Ashtabula and had remained a life-long are resident. Norma attended St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and enjoyed her many friends that she worshipped with. Norma worked for Spence and Silva Grocery for many years and prior to that, she was employed as a bakery supervisor. Norma loved being with people, she was a people person and it showed. Norma and Thomas Erickson were united in marriage June 25, 1950. They had fifty seven years together until his death in 2007. Norma and Tom had “happy feet”; they loved travel and enjoyed sharing that time together and with others. Norma loved to cook and share her cooking and baking talent with her family and friends. Norma was described as a “Master Homemaker”.She did all things well and her home was a place where you felt loved and welcomed. Norma is survived by her son, David and Gayle Erickson of Ashtabula; grandchildren, Timothy and Christina Erickson and their daughter, Sophie, Matthew Erickson all of Ashtabula, Lindy and Kyle Knapp and their son, Vincent of Wisconsin; her brother, Wesley Verde and loving nieces and nephews. Norma was preceded in death by her beloved Tom; her siblings, Kathleen, Floretta, Dolores, Frank, Gloria, Marie and Molly; her parents, Thomas and Minnie Desko. Private Graveside Services will be held at Edgewood Cemetery. Rev. John Werner, Pastor of First Congregational Church (UCC), Jefferson, Ohio will officiate. Norma’s family greatly appreciated the loving care she received from the staffs of Silver Sands and Kremer Home; their kindness and compassion given to Norma and her family meant so much.
