Ronald H. Corlew, 95, of North Kingsville passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at his home. Born July 24, 1925, he was a son of the late Raymond Rudd and Gladys Irene (Underwood) Corlew. Ronald graduated from Edgewood High School in 1943. From 1943-1946, Ronald served his country in the Navy during World War II. In 1947, while out at the Austinburg skating rink he met the love of his life, Theta Crane and they married on November 20, 1948. Ronald was saved, baptized and lived his faith in Jesus Christ clearly in front of family and friends. Alongside his wife, he attended church at the Ashtabula First Baptist Church until purchasing a home in 1952 in North Kingsville. Together they joined the First Baptist Church of Kingsville, where they served as lifelong faithful members. There, he taught Sunday school for 50 years and served as deacon and sang in the choir. He sang in the men’s quartet and later on was the leader of the Baptist Youth Fellowship for 25 years as well as a camp counselor/director at Camp Koinonia in Geneva, Ohio. For 21 years, Ronald worked as a custodian and fireman at Buckeye Local Schools and then went on to work at Reliance Electric for 9 years until it closed. From there, Ronald went to work at Columbus Jr. High until he retired in 1991. After retirement, he remained very involved with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ron and Theta’s home became the prime vacation spot every summer for family to gather and share memories. Left to cherish his memories are his children, Ronald (Cindy) Corlew, Patricia (Joe) Shackelford, Rev. Kevin (Suzanne) Corlew, and Eric Corlew; his brother Fred Corlew; his sisters, Betty Emery and Alice Noss; his grandchildren, Christopher, Craig, Julia, Patricia “Annie”, Paul, Joseph, John-Mason, Benjamin, and Jeremiah; and 30 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his wife, Theta of 71 years who passed April 8, 2020, Ronald was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley McMillion; his brothers, Rudd, Gerald “Jay”, Dale and Raymond Corlew; and one great-grandchild.
