Obituary of Robert Donald Rendrick

Robert D. Rendrick ASHTABULA- Robert Donald Rendrick, 91 surrounded in love by his family joined his beloved wife, Shirley on Wednesday, September 16, 2020. The son of Edward and Lillian (Perry) Rendrick, Bob was born on April 23, 1929 in Ashtabula. During WWII Bob served in the Merchant Marines; he sailed three years on the Great Lakes and for two years he sailed the Atlantic Ocean. During the Korean Conflict Bob served in United States Army and also the National Guard from which he retired after achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. Prior to his enlistment, Bob delivered telegrams for Western Union; notifying families of the death of their loved one. He was employed with Hanna Steamship Company. Bob retired from Linde Air after thirty nine years of dedicated service. From a very young age Bob loved the water and sailing. He also loved to dance. Bob also enjoyed camping, auctions and garage sales; always looking for a good deal or a new treasure. Bob will be remembered as a loving dad, grandpa and great grandpa; he loved, encouraged, supported and cheered his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bob is survived by his children, Robert A. (Ellen) Rendrick of Feeding Hills, MA, Vicki Pahel of Conneaut, Julie (Doug) Owings of Delaware, Ohio and Janette (Robert) Harkabus of Conneaut; grandchildren, Jaime Bouchard, Jennifer Barna, Jeremy Riffe, Noelle Harkabus, Dustin McKovac, Brian Riffe, Ella Megan Untied, Stephanie Carter, Kristin Siegman, and Josiah Rendrick; eleven great grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty years Shirley in 2014; his son, Daniel Rendrick; granddaughter, Darcie Marie, and his parents. Funeral Services will be at 12 Noon on Saturday, September 19, 2020 the Zaback-Williams- Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio. Rev. Betsy Schenk, Pastor of Amboy United Methodist church will officiate. Visitation will be from 10AM-12 Noon at the funeral home Saturday, September 19, 2020.
