Obituary of Dennis P. Rill

Dennis P. Rill, 65, of Ashtabula passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, October 11, 2020. He was born on November 12, 1954 in Ashtabula, and was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Zoller) Rill. Dennis graduated from Harbor High School, Class of 1973. He worked as a track inspector for Norfolk and Southern Railroad for over 30 years. Dennis was an avid Nascar fan, and enjoyed going fishing. Music was also another area of great interest. Dennis had an eclectic taste in music with Rock-n-Roll and Country being his favorite genres. One of his philosophies of life was that there were never wrong turns, just new adventures. Dennis was a member of the Brothers of Maintenance of Way Union where he proudly served his fellow members. Additionally Dennis was also active in Archway Marina. He served many years as the secretary and treasurer, and had a dock that he would rent out every summer. Mr. Rill is survived by his daughters, Danielle Rill, Sara (Chris Smallwood) Rill, Ashley (Craig) Schuffenecker; grandchildren August and Linus Smallwood; siblings, Joe (Jane) Rill, Karl (Gail) Rill, Mary Kay (Stephen) Nelson-McGee, Timothy (Barbara) Rill; and sister-in-law, Linda Rill. He was preceded in death by his brother Terrance Rill and Thomas Rill in infancy; and his parents. A memorial visitation will be held Friday, October 16, 2020 from 4-6PM at the Zaback-Williams-Ducro, 500 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula. Inurnment will take at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.
