Joseph R. Spano ASHTABULA- Joseph Richard Spano, 88 passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 10, 2020. The son of Gabriel and Lena (Solembrino) Spano, Joe was born on January 31, 1932 in Ashtabula and had remained an Ashtabula resident. Joe was a graduate of Ashtabula high School class of 1949. He remained close with many of his classmates over the years. Joe was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. Joe attended Our Lady of Peace Parrish, Mt. Carmel Church; where he sang in the choir for many years. Joe and Mollieanne Short were married May 20, 1994 and have recently celebrated twenty-six years of love and mutual respect. Joe was Mollieanne’s “Knight in Shining Armor”. Although, he was born in Ashtabula, Joe loved the New York Yankees and cheered for Notre Dame. He enjoyed talking politics always trying to convince you to “see” his side. Joe will be remembered as a man who had a great love of his family; he encouraged their successes and triumphs and supported them during difficult times. Joe is survived by his loving wife, Mollieanne Spano; his daughter, Lee Anne (William) Meleski; grandson, William White, Jr. (Billy), great-grandson Tyler White, and great-great grandson Joey White; Mollieanne’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom he loved as his own; Sherrie (Timothy) Wawrowski, Timothy(Margaret) Pyles, and Robert(Charlene) Pyles, Jr. ; grandchildren, Danielle, Timothy II, Tyler, Christina, Brandon, Jennifer, Emilee and Destinee; great grandchildren, Krista, Jaelyn, Knox, Teagan, Miah, and Taylor; brothers, Anthony (Delores) Spano and Frank Spano; many loving nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his daughters, Delores Labry Spano; beloved daughter, Gloria Norton; brother, William Spano; half siblings, Franco, John and Mary and his parents. If desired, contributions in Joe’s name may be made to the APL, 5970 Green Road, Ashtabula, Ohio, 44004. Private services were held with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, Carpenter Road, Ashtabula, Ohio ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio assisted the family. www.ducro.com
