Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert "Mickey" Malcolm McNair, 77, of Jefferson, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Heather Hill Care Community. He was born May 16, 1943 in Niagara Falls, New York, the son of Ralph Stuart and Margaret (Lang) McNair. Robert was a 1961 graduate of Harbor High School, where he played Football and Track and Field. He was "Mickey" to his family and friends. Robert attended The Ohio State University graduating in 1965 with a Bachelor's in Business. He then attended The Ohio State University Law School, graduating in 1968 with his Juris Doctorate. Bob's law career in Ashtabula County spanned 46 years. He worked in the Locey Teatsorth Law Practice and also served for 6 years as a Juvenile Court Referee for The Honorable Judge Calvin Hutchins. Following Attorney Teatsorth's retirement, Bob ran his own law firm. At the beginning of his legal career he was mentored by The Honorable Judge Howard F. Warner, who remained a lifelong friend of the family. Bob was a member of the Ashtabula County Bar Association, the Jefferson Rotary Club, and Beta Theta Pi at The Ohio State University as well as other organizations from which he received recognition. He also served as legal counsel for the Jefferson Foundation and the Henderson Memorial Library. Bob volunteered many hours encouraging and helping students to learn how best to study. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Margaret (Lang) McNair; sister, Sandra (McNair) Hawley; and niece, LeeAnne Hawley. Bob is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy J. (née Scherr); his children, Jessica Stuart McNair, Robert Paul McNair (Angela), Charlotte Ann Stewart, and Katharine Ann Dreves (Anna); and five grandchildren, Sheila Louise Stewart, Robert Owen McNair, Shelby Lee Stewart, Elijah Malcolm Stewart, and Joseph Izak McNair; as well as many beloved friends. Bob worked tirelessly to provide for his family. Wherever he was, he was the life of the party. He was an incredible storyteller and could keep his family and friends laughing at the memories he recalled in detail. Bob also reached out to share advice and always took time for his friends. He loved watching his children at school events, OSU football, the Cleveland Browns, mowing his lawn, playing cribbage, reciting limericks, spending time with his family and friends, and was an avid reader. He absolutely adored Nancy, was proud of his children, and cherished his grandchildren. At the end of his life, like all throughout it, he gave it his all. "Thank God for your blessings every day." He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 12PM at St. Joseph Calasanctius Parish, 32 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson.
