Robert Francis DeMay, 73, of Ashtabula passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020 in his home surrounded by loved ones. Married on February 1, 1969 to his high school sweetheart, he was the beloved husband of Barbara (Hathy) DeMay for 51 years.
Born on October 20, 1947 in Conneaut, OH, he was a son of the late Francis and Jean Ann (Benjamin) DeMay. A lifelong resident of Ashtabula County, Robert graduated St. John School in 1965 and was a longtime member of Our Lady of Peace Parish. Before retirement, Robert worked at the former Ashland Chemical in Ashtabula, OH for 32 years.
During the 1970s, Robert was a member of the APD-Police Auxiliary. Always willing to help others, Robert was a part of the APT Committee for St. Joseph School. In 2010, Robert was inducted into the Ashtabula County Football Hall of Fame. A sports fanatic, he faithfully followed all of Cleveland’s professional sports but his greatest love was his family.
Robert will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife, Barbara, left to cherish his memories are his two daughters, Jennifer (Jeff) Hines of Mentor, OH and Karen (Dr. M. Eric) Radkowski of Madison, OH; his two siblings, Michael (Annette) DeMay of Conneaut, OH and Joan (Dan) Jolly of Krum, TX; three grandchildren, Rachel and Ryan Radkowski and Jared Hines; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Sydney Radkowski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Friday, November 13, 2020 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 1200 E 21st St, Ashtabula, OH 44004, with The Rev. Raymond Thomas officiating. Interment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery, Ashtabula.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 13, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
Memorial contributions in Robert’s name may be made to St. John School, 7911 Depot Road
